No. You don’t “own” another living being. They are companions, friends, family members, or at least acquaintances, neighbours and people (of a different kind) that you occasionally say “hi” to. Whenever one treats another living being as a “lesser” lifeform, they are already treating themselves in lesser and degrading ways, on some level or another.
Treat yourselves highly and rightly, and you’ll intrinsically desire to treat others as such, as well. How we treat others is a reflection of how we treat ourselves.
The greater our love for ourselves, the greater our love towards everything and everyone.

Esoterically, one of the reasons why most humans in our current so-called “society” are still in the situation that they are, is because through either committing or condoning the murder of innocent beings of other speices, they are inviting other species (human and otherwise) to do likewise to them

That’s the main, if not the only personal reason why people eat the corpse chunks euphemistically called “meat”: an addiction to taste and socially engrained compulsions
When more people will develop the strength of will and empathy to outgrow their compulsions and their ego, at the very least (although, of course preferably more than) to the point of applying the “live and let live; do no harm, but take no shit” principles of non-aggression and self-defense (and the defense of others), then we’ll see way more of a shift towards a society that’s actually worth something
